Transformation Program Graduate – Myron D.

Myron D., married by common law, enjoyed life with his wife of 16 years until she passed
away in 2021. His wife primarily paid their bills and with her gone, Myron struggled to make
ends meet. Then five months after her death, her son, Myron’s stepson, committed suicide.
This led Myron into a deep depression and severe anxiety attacks. Unable to support
himself financially any longer, he checked into the Luzerne County Emergency Shelter.
Once his time expired at that shelter, he traveled to the Allentown Rescue Mission for help.

Myron appreciated the time he had in the Transformation Program because it afforded him
time to learn about available resources to help him on his journey toward independence.
Myron stated that he had never been in a program like the Transformation Program. One
that provided work skills, life skills, and Bible classes to help him move forward in life.

Currently, Myron is working for the Clean Team Workforce. His goal is to find a steady job
that he enjoys and then move into an apartment with some of his peers so that they can
share rent and reduce the monthly financial burden. He would also like to locate his
biological family. Myron grew up in the foster care system but knows he was born in the
Lehigh Valley, so while here, he hopes to find his biological mother whom he has not seen
since he was ten years old.
